Fans of the iconic video game heroine Lara Croft have a lot to be excited about: Prime Video has released the first look at its upcoming live-action series “Tomb Raider,” starring Sophie Turner as the adventurous archaeologist.

Currently in production, the series is a fresh adaptation of the beloved video game franchise. Prime Video first greenlit the project in May 2024, and Turner’s casting was revealed later that year in November. She joins a legacy of actresses who have brought Lara Croft to life on screen, following Angelina Jolie in two films and Alicia Vikander in the most recent movie adaptation.
The series also features an impressive ensemble cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, August Wittgenstein, and Martin Bobb-Semple.
At the helm of the project is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. She co-showruns the series alongside Chad Hodge, with Jonathan van Tulleken directing and also executive producing.
Since her debut in 1996, Lara Croft has become a female action icon, with a long-standing legacy in gaming. The most recent title, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, released in 2018, and earlier classics have been remastered for new generations of gamers. Fans also have more adventures to look forward to, with two new games, “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis” (2026) and “Tomb Raider: Catalyst” (2027) already announced.
The series is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics, Story Kitchen, and Amazon MGM Studios, with executive producers including Waller-Bridge, Jenny Robins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, Michael Scheel, Hodge, and van Tulleken. It was developed under a unique partnership between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios, allowing for future “Tomb Raider” stories to be expanded into additional series and films.
For collectors and fans of action-packed adventures, Sophie Turner’s portrayal of Lara Croft promises to bring a new dimension to one of gaming’s most iconic heroines. We can’t wait to see how this legendary character jumps from console to screen once again.
